Mario Industries has joined the Ernest Hemingway Collection of furniture and home accents as a new lighting licensee. The third-generation, family owned lighting company debuted 17 new floor and table lamps and sconces for Thomasville's Ernest Hemingway Collection — inspired by the iconic American writer — at the spring High Point Market in North Carolina.
First introduced in 1999, the Ernest Hemingway Collection is one of
Thomasville’s most successful and ever-expanding complete lifestyle collections, encompassing fine furniture, outdoor furniture, home accents and decorative accessories including lighting, and decorative throws and pillows.
The latest edition unveiled at the market is a nod to safaris throughout Africa, and seeks to capture the essence of
Ernest Hemingway’s persona and philosophy of “life as a journey.”
In addition to echoing the theme of Africa found throughout the collection, Mario Industries’ new lamps represent Hemingway’s time in Cuba and Spain and his love of the sea.
For example, the body of one table lamp is created from a reproduction ship’s register, while another table lamp (shown here) has a mariner’s telescope as its body. The telescope is wrapped in antiqued red leather, and the faux leather shade is painted to match. Coordinating table and floor column lamps replicate the plantation shutters found throughout Hemingway’s beloved Key West and Cuba. The shade on each is made from rich crocodile leather.
Thomasville introduced a 50-piece offering for market. In addition to Mario,
Sorella Home was also recently welcomed as a new Hemingway licensee, with a tabletop line premiering in July. Earlier this year, the Ernest Hemingway Collection added hardwood flooring to its product offerings.
