  • Dallas Speakers Talk Trends, Business

    January 11, 2010

Trends and business strategies will be key themes for this week’s Dallas Market. The Dallas Market Center released its lineup of keynote speakers for its Total Home & Gift Market (Jan. 13-19), concurrent with the Jan. 14-18 Intl. Lighting Market. Although none of the speakers are specific to lighting, they cover broader topics relevant to all independent retailers.

Noted speakers include author/editor and TV personality Susana Salk, who will speak on home trends and design style at noon on Thursday Jan. 14 in IFGC 1F321. Salk appears monthly on NBC’s “Today Show” to discuss design style and has also produced and hosted regular segments on CBS’ “Early Show.” She helped launch Elle Décor as Interior Design Manager and later became Contributing Editor. She was also Special Projects Editor for House & Garden until the publication folded. She is the author of 2009's “Weekend Retreats” and is working on a new book, “Rooms of Their Own.”

Fran Mooney, color and design specialist for the Benjamin Moore Co., will present COLORPULSE 2011 at noon on Friday, Jan. 15 in WTC 9065. She will discuss color and design inspiration, color direction and color trends one year in advance, as well as dicussing how universal color trends translate to all industries.

Trusted design authority Joe Ruggerio (pictured here), head of independent multimedia group Joseph Ruggiero & Assoc. specializing in home design, will present a lunch-and-learn session, The World of Design, also at noon on Jan. 15 in District One Five Lounge on the 15th floor of the World Trade Center.

Tom Shay, President of Profits + Plus and a fourth-generation merchant, will present two programs on Saturday, Jan. 16: Strategies to Win in 2010 at 10 a.m. and The Internet is for the Dough, Not Just the Show at noon, both in IFGC 1F321.

Visit www.dallasmarketcenter.com for more information and a complete list of speakers and market events.
