  • Crystorama Partners With Dorian Webb

    December 21, 2009

Designer Dorian Webb and crystal chandelier manufacturer Crystorama have joined forces to create a new “recession-sensitive” chandelier line offering affordable luxury.

Webb, the creative mind behind the Venetian glass jewelry and high-end lighting under the Viaggio line, says she was interested in doing something more affordable. “These new designs in Dorian Webb by Crystorama are based on my jewelry collection and colors. They’re reflective of my taste and perspective,” she says.

Both Webb and Crystorama have nurtured an appreciation for European aesthetics and quality. Crystorama began working with Bohemian crystal from Czech Republic more than 50 years ago. Webb studied Italian architecture at Yale University and later traveled to Italy to witness the beauty first-hand. Captivated by Murano glass, she began crafting a line of intricate, feminine jewelry before segueing into lighting fixtures.

By partnering with Crystorama’s overseas factories and accessing the breadth of their materials and production capabilities, Webb is now able to reduce the cost associated with making her line by hand in New York City. “Just because someone can’t spend $1,500 on a chandelier doesn’t mean they don’t have taste or don’t need light,” she says. “Everyone appreciates beauty. People who like colorful glasswork will love this line.”

Two initial lighting collections will be available in early 2010. “One is romantic and floral in feeling and features colored crystals and iron,” says Crystorama President Brad Kleinberg. “The other series has a lot of color and intricate design. Both collections are for a young, savvy customer who likes color. These are not your grandmother’s chandeliers.”

The Dorian Webb line will be unveiled in Crystorama's showroom (TM 3503) during the Jan. 14-18 Dallas Market.
